30Zhaozhou's Big Radishes
僧問趙州：「承聞和尚親見南泉，是否？」州云：「鎮州出大蘿蔔頭。」
A monk asked Zhaozhou, "I hear you studied with Nanquan in person. Is that true?"
Zhaozhou said, "Zhenzhou grows big radishes."
Verse 頌
鎮州出大蘿蔔，
天下衲僧取則。
只知自古自今，
爭辨鵠白烏黑。
賊，賊！
衲僧鼻孔曾拈得。
Zhenzhou grows big radishes.
Every monk in the land takes the cue.
They only know it's been so from old to now.
Why sort the white swan from the black crow?
Thief, thief!
He had the monk by the nose all along.
