居士一日在茅廬裡坐，驀忽云：「難，難，難，十碩油麻樹上攤。」龐婆云：「易，易，易，如下眠床脚踏地。」靈照云：「也不難，也不易，百草頭上祖師意。」
One day Layman Pang was sitting in his thatched hut. Suddenly he said, "Hard, hard, hard — like spreading ten bushels of sesame seeds over a tree."
His wife said, "Easy, easy, easy — like your feet finding the floor when you climb out of bed."
Their daughter Lingzhao said, "Neither hard nor easy: the mind of the patriarchs, on the tip of every blade of grass."
