22The Dragon Girl's Gift示眾
師示眾云：「龍女心親獻，盡是自然事。」問：「既是自然，獻時為什麼？」師云：「若不獻，爭知自然？」
Zhaozhou addressed the assembly: "The dragon girl wholeheartedly offered the jewel in person. All of it was simply natural."
A monk asked, "If it was natural, why offer it at all?"
Zhaozhou said, "If she hadn't offered it, how would you know it was natural?"
