The Book of Serenity從容錄

Cóngróng Lù · Shōyōroku · compiled by Verses by Hongzhi Zhengjue (宏智正覺, 1091–1157); commentary compiled by Wansong Xingxiu (萬松行秀, 1166–1246), 1224 (Jin / Song dynasty)

The Book of Serenity (Chinese: Cóngróng Lù; Japanese: Shōyōroku) is the Caodong (Sōtō) school's counterpart to the Blue Cliff Record. Its hundred cases were chosen and set in verse by Hongzhi Zhengjue in the twelfth century; Wansong Xingxiu added an instruction, a prose commentary, and interlinear notes to each, completing the work in 1224.

This edition gives the core of each case — Wansong's instruction (示眾), the case itself (本則), and Hongzhi's verse (頌). The prose commentary and capping phrases are omitted for now.
